Town centre regeneration

Hounslow and Brentford Town Centres both present major regeneration challenges - particularly in the current economic climate. Retail businesses in Isleworth and Chiswick have also found times much tougher through the recession.

For the past four years I have chaired the award-winning Brentford High Street Steering Group. The group has developed a comprehensive community vision for the High Street to fight the decline and catalyse regeneration. This has delivered improvements in shoppers' parking (see photo left), Christmas lights and better signage. Work is now beginning on a new master-planning process with a study commissioned from The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment.

Over a year on from consultants publishing a new vision for Hounslow Town Centre and nothing has happened. Hundreds of people have also signed a petition calling on Hounslow Council to speed up work on new plans for the town centre.
